The Roast of David Carroll
For those of you who may not know David Carroll, he is a veteran Toastmaster. He has been a member of Toastmasters International for the past 28 years and also, has accomplished the highest distinction up to 4 different times. He is on his way of earning the DTM a fifth time.David used to be a member of 2 different Toastmasters clubs in Chula Vista and is now an exclusive member of Chula Vista Club "The Great 108." He cherishes Toastmasters and is an avid believer of the mission of the organization as he believes that the organization has been effective at supporting him in accomplishing his goals, which were to be the best professional public speaker. Not only is he an excellent model of public speaking; yet, he has gone beyond the club to excel in his leadership ability and support other clubs in any area of need.
On August 30th, 2018, Chula Vista Club hosted a special meeting. It was a Member Appreciation Meeting and the purpose of this meeting was to honor David's efforts as the club's Great Mentor. He is considered a Great Mentor by many of the club's members. Frisco George, club president, and a few other club members (Ron Lederle, DTM... Liz Choi, CC... and Alex Rivera, ACB, CL) roasted David. Lourdes Araiza read an ode to him, which was written by Brenda Salazar (club's VP of Public Relations).
August 30th was chosen as the Member's Appreciation Meeting because it had been David's Birthday that past week. This was the club's birthday present to him.
