6 Reasons Why YOU Should Join "The Great 108"

6 Reasons Why YOU Should Join "The Great 108"

1. A diverse and large club. Our club membership numbers is usually above 30 and all of our members range from those in their 20s to seniors and veterans. We are also racially, ethnically, and linguistically diverse; though, a large majority of our membership is composed of bilingual (Spanish/English) members since we are centrally located in the heart of South Bay.

2. Excellent camaraderie and supportive. The moment you arrive and sit in one of our many club meetings, you will feel the camaraderie among the members. We are there to help and support each other in any way. No one leaves without uttering a few words. We like to hear from everyone, to know about what's happening in their lives. Our speakers receive excellent feedback from their evaluators; so, next time when they speak, they apply their feedback to improve their presentation. The members of "The Great 108" are definitely a jovial bunch who care about each other and look forward to meeting and learning about you!

3. A professionally-oriented club. While you have observed and sat in other Toastmasters club meetings, you will notice that some clubs are more lax and others more serious and goal-oriented. We are the latter. When you come in for the first time, you will notice that our meetings are well-structured and organized, from beginning to end. Our speakers deliver prepared speeches from Toastmasters educational program as this allows members to progress toward their goals and helps the club meet the 10 out of 10 in the DCP.

4. "The Great 108" is a President's Distinguished Club. For the past 14 years, this club has strived to meet the established criteria (at least 9 out of 10 goals in the Distinguished Club Program). Getting to President's Distinguished is not an easy task; however, all is due to the hard work and commitment of the club members who work on Toastmasters educational program every week. This is done by signing up and delivering prepared speeches from their manual or path.

5. Various levels of speaking abilities. In this club, you will encounter members of all abilities - from the timid and quiet speakers who struggle and often become nervous speaking in front of a large group to the advanced speakers who know how to utilize the skills when speaking to their audience. However, don't let this discourage you! This is an excellent opportunity to enjoy listening to a variety of speakers speak on a variety of subjects and topics.

6. We love to be social and have fun! It's not always about preparing and delivering prepared speeches and speech evaluations. We also hang out at Happy Hour socials, where we can drink, talk, and get to know each other.
